Caliber Construction Alaska LLC is in search of a highly skilled and experienced Construction Estimator / Manager to join our team. ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:

Estimating Responsibilities:

  • Prepare accurate quantity take-offs and estimates for construction projects.

  • Review and understand contract documents to ensure compliance.

  • Collaborate with the project team to monitor project contracts, including schedule and cost, and assess potential fiscal risks.

  • Coordinate with subcontractors, suppliers, and the project team to ensure all necessary project documentation is in place.

  • Oversee the application for and acquisition of Project/Construction Permits.

  • Maintain strict adherence to contract compliance.

  • Ensure the professional execution of all project documentation.

  • Communicate effectively with clients, architects, and contracting agencies to avoid surprises.

  • Transmit project documents to field crews, subcontractors, owner, architect, and contracting agency.

  • Record minutes of formal pre-construction meetings.

  • Facilitate timely submission of submittals by subcontractors.

  • Assist with SWPPP requirements and inspections.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Project Management Responsibilities:

  • Monitor and maintain a strong focus on safety on the construction site.

  • Record minutes of project coordination meetings and disseminate them to all relevant parties.

  • Facilitate the electronic transfer of data between the project team.

  • Assist with the creation and management of the project's schedule, including "Look-Ahead" schedules.

  • Coordinate with subcontractors, suppliers, and internal teams as required.

  • Ensure the implementation of quality control systems throughout the project.

  • Assist with monthly cost-to-complete estimates and the ongoing tracking of actual costs during construction.

  • Track and account for material deliveries and maintain up-to-date inventory records for self-performed work.

  • Verify subcontractors' material inventory to ensure sufficient on-site materials.

  • Schedule and coordinate jobsite project meetings as needed.

  • Collaborate with the project superintendent and project engineer to maintain accurate production quantity records.

  • Perform SWPPP inspections and maintain required documentation.

  • Fulfill the role of project manager or superintendent in their absence.

  • Maintain OSHA 30, First Aid & CPR, and QCM qualifications.

THIS POSITION IS 100% ACCOUNTABLE AND RESPONSIBLE FOR:

  • Adhering to all company standards, systems, and policies.

  • Daily communication with the Superintendent and Client, as necessary.

  • Keeping a weekly project checklist to assist the Superintendent with weekly job coordination.

  • Coordinating all project correspondence, required paperwork, documentation, notices, RFI's, RFQs, Change Orders, etc., and maintaining project logs.

  • Keeping project logs (RFI, submittal, Change Request, weather delay, visitor, material delivery, drawing, etc.) up-to-date.

  • Assisting the Manager with monthly billing and schedule updates.

  • Maintaining company or personal vehicles in a clean and efficient manner.

  • Daily communication with the project superintendent and manager to discuss project progress, requirements, and goals.

  • Representing the company professionally to customers, subcontractors, suppliers, vendors, and employees.

  • Regular meetings with the superintendent and manager to ensure workmanship meets company standards and to identify opportunities for efficiency improvements and accurate cost data.

  • Fulfilling the role of project manager or superintendent in their absence.

  • Maintaining OSHA 30, First Aid & CPR, and QCM qualifications.

Education and Other Requirements:

  • Strong multitasking and prioritization skills.

  • Thriving in a fast-paced team environment.

  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.

  • Effective verbal and written communication with subcontractors, suppliers, design professionals, Superintendent, and Project Manager.

  • Willingness to take direction and follow instructions.

  • Proficiency in PC usage and a willingness to learn new software applications.

  • Ability to obtain and maintain any required military base access.

  • Reliable transportation to and from the jobsite.

  • Degree in Civil Engineering, Project Management, Construction Project Management, Business, Finance, or a related project management field.

  • At least six months of construction project experience through internship or other means.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Regular indoor office work.

  • Exposure to moderate noise levels.

  • Exposure to loud noise, dust, airborne particles, fumes, and various smells.

  • Exposure to moving mechanical parts, vibration, and high precarious places.

  • May require personal protective equipment for specific job tasks.

  • Maintain a safe and efficient work area.
